Don “DJ SNAKE” Brown, also known as DJ SNAKE of NEMESIS, is a pioneering figure in Dallas Ft, Worth hip-hop and the original architect of the city’s bass-heavy underground rap movement. As a founding member and producer of the legendary rap groups Nemesis and Ron C DJ Snake helped shape the signature sound that brought Dallas rap national attention in the late 1980s and 1990s.
Emerging from the Dallas underground scene, DJ Snake co-founded Get Off Me Records in 1987 and released early records including “Oak Cliff / Snake Beats,” helping establish a foundation for Southern bass-driven hip-hop before the genre exploded nationwide. Known for heavy low-end production, cinematic textures, and aggressive street energy, his work with Nemesis and Ron C blended Miami bass, gangsta rap, funk, and underground Southern sound into a style that became instantly recognizable.
